Venice 2016

Last stop in our Italy Trip: Venice.

After visiting Rome and Florence, we headed to the beautiful Venice and spent 2 days there where we visited the main tourist attractions such as the Grand Canal, Piazza San Marco, Saint Marc's Basilica, San Marco Campanile, Rialto Bridge, Bridge of Sighs and Santa Maria della Salute. If we spent longer in Venice, we would've also visited Murano and Burano, as these are also famous attractions.

Florence 2016

Second stop in Italy: Florence.
After 4 days in Rome, we travelled by train to Florence and visited places such as Ponte Vecchio, Florence Cathedral, Basilica of Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, Piazzale Michelangelo, Piazza del Duomo and Ponte Santa Trinita.

Florence is quite an old-looking city, but it still has a very authentic feel to it like Rome. There were so many tourists everywhere, and although people say Florence is quite expensive, we thought it wasn't that expensive - prices were similar to Rome and cheaper than in London. Florence is not actually very big, so it was easy to get around on foot or by bus to visit the main attractions. If you're going to visit Florence, make sure you visit the tourist information centre that's just across the road from the Firenze SMN train station as they will give you a map of Florence and can give you details about how to get around. We found this so helpful!

Rome 2016

First stop in our Italy Trip was Rome - we visited lots of tourist attractions such as the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, St. Peter's Basilica, the Spanish Steps, Piazza Venezia, Piazza del Popolo, Vatican City, Vatican Museums, Castel Sant'Angelo and Altare della Patria. We spent 4 days there in total, and luckily for us, everyday was sunny! Rome has lots of things to offer, and Italian coffee is just amazing :O Taking the train or underground is so easy and accessible, and most places are within walking distance so it is not difficult to get around.

The food was so good! This restaurant was called 'Exquisitaly' in the heart of Rome.

Italy Trip - Rome, Florence & Venice

Italy has been one of the top places that I've wanted to visit for a long time (amongst many other places on my list haha), so during the Easter holidays, my boyfriend and I decided, as our first trip together, to travel to Italy! :D We visited 3 places~ Rome, Florence and Venice (in that order). We flew from Stansted Airport to Rome and stayed there for 4 days, then travelled by train to Florence and stayed there for 3 days, then lastly visited Venice by train for 2 days. It was one heck of a journey with all that travelling, but it was worth it as the places were so beautiful! My favourite place has to be Rome though; everything just looks so authentic, and there were just so many attractions to see, such as the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain, to name a few. We could've spent a whole week there exploring and wouldn't be bored! Florence is known to be a romantic place to visit but there was not as much to see compared to Rome, so a few days there was enough for us. Venice was also lovely, and taking a boat ride around Venice is a must! But everything there was pretty expensive ><
Although we only spent 9 days altogether in Italy, it was a great trip and we'd definitely want to visit it again! We also planned on visiting the Leaning Tower of Pisa but unfortunately we couldn't make it as I was feeling unwell during that time, so we'll have to save that one for another time :)
Overall, Italy has impressed me and the people there were so friendly and welcoming. But I've had enough of eating pasta and pizza for a while ;) The coffee was amazing in Italy, UK just can't compare!
More details on the individual places of Rome, Florence and Venice coming up soon!

Love,

Carissa xxx
